Timing belt, cam belt, camshaft drive belt, toothed belt. Different names for the same thing.

Many, but not all engines use a timing belt.

Unfortunately, if this should fail, in most cases severe and costly damage will result.

Because of this all vehicle manufacturers have recommended replacement intervals. As with servicing this varies with make and model.
